Wild Steamy Hook-Up - Piper Rayne

He’s the quiet brooding guy who’s owned my heart since I was sixteen but has refused to claim it.

I’m the naïve woman who believes that someday our time will come.

I just didn’t realize that someday would include waking up in Vegas with a raging hangover and a ring on my finger.

If we believed in fate, maybe one of us would’ve trusted that something more powerful than ourselves interceded because our love is one of tangled vines. As twisted and frayed as they’ve become over the years, they’ve never broken.

An annulment seemed like the easy way out. We should’ve known it wouldn’t be fate that intervened, but our Italian Mamas. They can deliver Oscar-worthy performances when heaping on the guilt.

We thought it’d be easy to pretend to be a happily married couple in front of our families for three months and then say we gave it our best shot and go our separate ways.

But nothing is easy when it comes to Dominic Mancini and me. Nothing.

Excerpt:
“I’ve seen you eat nothing but junk. Are you one of those irritating people who can eat what they want and put on no weight?” “Okay, first.” I held up one finger. “You look like you could walk into the cast of the Avengers, so don’t come at me with that. Also, I run. Every day. And I don’t always eat junk.” “You run?” His eyebrows shot up. “I don’t know if I should be insulted or not.” “No, I just—you don’t look like a runner.” “And you don’t look like Chris Hemsworth, but here you are on my sofa looking like a dark-haired Norse god,” I shot back. “What’s your point?” He held up his hands, fighting another laugh, one that made his eyes shine. “Hey, I have a physical job. I rarely get to the gym, but I’m always moving.” “Have you ever worked behind a bar? I’m not exactly running a call center back there. It never stops sometimes.” “Do I look like I mix cocktails?” Doing what he’d done just minutes before, I took a long, hard look at him, from head to toe. It was a mistake. If I were a sloth, I wouldn’t just climb him like a tree; I’d hang off him for a nap, too. Lord, he was hot. Focus, Lauren. “No,” I said. “You look like the lone wolf who waits for the cocktail-drinking girls to accidentally spill their drinks on your shoes.” I glanced at the time. “Speaking of, I have to go and make those cocktails.” Mason grinned. “You want me to come and get hit on by drunk girls?” “As someone who has no say in your life whatsoever, I don’t care what you do.” I stood up and looked at him over my shoulder. “As your fake girlfriend, I’m a bit of a tiger, so I wouldn’t.” “I know.” He snorted, following me to the front door with his laptop tucked under his arm. “I’ve seen you play the possessive girlfriend. If this weren’t all fake, I would have been a little turned on.” I locked the front door and tossed my hair over my shoulder. “Please. You were totally turned on.” He said nothing as we headed for the stairs. “You can say something. That was a joke.” I glanced at him, heat rushing to my cheeks. His lips pulled into a smirk, eyes flashing. “I reserve the right to not respond.”

My Review

Now this is what I've been waiting for from Emma Hart for a while now. Her last book for me was a 3.5*- 4* read and I felt like it was missing something, well guess what? I found that missing something in The Accidental Girlfriend. The story was funny with Lauren coming out with so many zingers I couldn't help but wish to be a bit more like her. There were times when it was almost too much but I think the fact that Mason got her humour and liked that part of her helped smooth that over for me.
Talk about new book boyfriend material, Mason is sweet and funny but keeps up with Lauren when she is in a mood. He was polite and respectful to his crazy family which for some reason was a total turn on for me. To be fair most of what Mason did was a total turn on he was just so freaking cute.
I loved the story idea itself. It wasn't the first time I have read this general idea but it still felt fresh and fun. I literally could not out the book down and today I'm suffering with the late night hangover but SO WORTH IT.

Thank you Emma Hart for writing this great book. I can definitely recommend this one wholeheartedly.

Wreck My World - Victoria Ashley

Title: Wreck My World
Author: Victoria Ashley
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 25, 2019

Blurb

“The feeling I have in this very moment, after not seeing her for so long, will haunt me forever, reminding me why I left to begin with.”

For as long as I can remember, Easton Crews has been off-limits. As much as it kills me, that’s never going to change.

After his little disappearing act three years ago, then suddenly showing up out of nowhere, I shouldn't want anything to do with him.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful he still is. Or how close we once were. It shouldn’t matter that my entire body lights on fire with need whenever he gets close.

He chose the worst possible time to leave without so much as a goodbye.

However, just like the first day he walked into our home, I'm drawn to him, needing him near me just as badly as I need air to breathe, and I can't stand it.

I want to hate him. I know I should hate him. But hating him is the last thing he'll let me do.

I push, he pulls harder, until I'm completely wrapped up in him, my mind lost in the one person who is forbidden—the one person I’ve always loved, even when he belonged to someone else.

Easton was never meant to be mine. It took me years to come to terms with that and now that I finally have, he's here, right in front of me, more irresistible than ever.

The part I fear the most about that—he’s the one person capable of completely wrecking my world.

“I’m not leaving until you take all of your hate out on me. Let me feel it. All of it. Every dirty look. Every nasty word. I will have it all before I leave. Stop hiding from me.”

She stops and turns around when she hears my boots crunching in the gravel behind her. The cold look in her eyes is almost enough to freeze my damn heart. “Don’t you dare follow me, Easton. Turn back around and go inside.” With pained eyes, she points at the building and screams. “GO!”
After yelling at me, she immediately turns back around and starts walking again to get away from me.
Ignoring her demand, I stalk toward her, wrapping my arm around her waist right as she attempts to straddle her motorcycle.
“You’re not driving home,” I say, while squeezing her waist and pulling her against me. “I get that you want fast right now. That you need a rush to clear your head. Trust me, I know you. I’m the one that got you addicted, but you’ve had too much to drink.”
“You don’t need to worry about what I do,” she growls out in anger, before elbowing me in the stomach in an effort to get away. “Dammit! Let me go. I need to leave. I can’t be here.”
She’s still trying to fight me, so I carefully lower her to the gravel and trap her under my body, pinning one of her legs underneath mine. “Give me your keys,” I growl, an inch away from her lips. “Don’t make me force them out of your hand. I can pin you under my body all night if I fucking have to, Kota.”
“Yeah, I don’t think my brother would like that much.” She attempts to buck me off with her hips, but it does nothing.
I smirk down at her and push my hips closer against her body. “Fight me all you want. I’ll win.”
“Fuck you, Easton!” Breathing heavily, she lays still and fights to control her breathing from below me. After a few seconds, her eyes meet mine, and she grins. “Fetch.” She tosses her keys across the parking lot and then pushes my chest, speaking against my lips. “Now. Get. Off.”
I release a hard breath and take a moment to analyze her face. It feels like forever since I’ve seen it.
Her big, gray eyes are framed by long lashes and her dainty, freckled nose is now pierced and flaring out in anger.
Catching me off guard, she pushes her way out from under me and closes her eyes as she runs her hands over her face and lays back. “Just leave me be. I don’t want to be anywhere near you. I’ll have Hope take me home.”
“You really mean that?” I question with a tight jaw. “You still hate me after three damn years?”
“How can I not?” she bites out, before jumping to her feet, ignoring my hand as I reach it out to help her. “You tore my heart out. Now get out of my way.”
I bite my lip, holding in my anger as she pushes past me and disappears inside.
I’m still standing out here with my hands in my hair when she walks back out a few minutes later following Hope to her old, beat-up truck.
My heart pounds relentlessly as I watch them hop inside and drive away.
You tore my heart out.
Those five words hurt like hell. She’s always been good at making me feel.

My Review

really liked i

Wreck My World by Victoria Ashley

This book is not for the faint hearted. It contains plenty of heart breaking moments, messy emotions and some hot steamy moments. If you like you books sweet and tame then this is not the story for you. In fact no Victoria Ashley book is for you.

I have to say Easton in such a great character. He is so loyal and he means well even if a few of the choices he makes to help others are crazy wrong and only ends up hurting himself and others more in the long run. The fact that his heart was in the right place every time wins me over and that he is so hot.

Dakota is a fire cracker who is also loyal which is what causes her the most pain. She puts other people's wants ahead of her own and has to suffer because of this.

It was sometimes hard to read Easton and Dakota's story. There were times when it looked like they might get a happy ever after only to have a set back. The roller coaster ride you go on with this book is crazy. As their past unfolds you realise " if only" is a real issues for these two. So close yet so far time and time again.

This book is addictive and will leave you feeling wrung out but satisfied in the end.

Unspoken Vow - Eden Finley

Release Date: July 11, 2019

Cover Design: Angsty G

Synopsis

𝙃𝙚’𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢.

There’s a long list of things I don’t handle well:
Change.
Relationships.
Breakups.

But there’s one person above everything else I can’t seem to get a handle on.
𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦.
In short, he’s perfect. The reality, he scares me.

He’s the opposite of what I usually go for. He’s bigger. Intimidating. He reminds me of someone I’d rather forget.

When I need to find a new place to live, Brody offers me his spare room, but I have no plans on taking him up on the offer. He doesn’t know what happened to me five years ago, and I want to keep it that way.
But with limited options, I find myself outside his apartment holding a full moving box and wondering: How can I do this without exposing the darkest part of my past?

Goodreads

Excerpt

My feet carry me across the apartment to Anders’ door, and I knock gently. “Anders?”

There’s a moan and then a curse.

I have no idea what I’m doing or what I’m going to say. Demanding answers isn’t an option, and neither is laying it all out there that I want more.

He still hasn’t opened the door.

I knock louder. “Anders? Are you okay?”

“Uh, hang on,” he calls out.

There’s something in his voice that sounds strained.

His footsteps get closer but then stop, and the door doesn’t budge. I lean in closer to try to hear more, which is when Anders, of course, opens it. I jump back but not fast enough.

He’s bare chested. Breathing hard. His face flushed. His mouth opens. Then closes.

That’s when I notice how poor a job his boxers are doing at hiding the giant erection trying to get free.

“Oh.” My gaze flies to his. “Oh. Umm, right. Okay. I ... you know what, it’s not important.” I practically fall over myself trying to turn and get away as fast as I can, because oops. Interrupting a wank session is poor form.

A chuckle comes from behind me. “It’s your fault, you know.”

I spin to face him. “Mine? How?”

Anders closes the gap between us with torturously slow steps. “All I’ve been thinking about is kissing you again.”

I feel his voice all the way to my toes, making them curl into the carpet.

He’s a breath away now, so close I can smell sex on him as if he’s wearing it like cologne.

I want to close the gap. I want to kiss him. My gaze lands on his lips, and I feel my tongue run along my own.

“But we can’t,” he whispers. There’s absolutely no conviction behind it. It sounds more like resigned defeat.

“Why not?” My voice mimics his, low and sexy with a tiny hint of a growl.

Anders takes a step back as if needing space. “My therapist. She said we shouldn’t. Not until …”

“Until?”

“Until I’m ready.”

“I’m guessing you’re not going to be ready in say the next ten seconds?” I ask hopefully.

Anders laughs. “Goddammit.” He rushes me, almost knocking me off my feet as he claims my mouth.

I groan as his tongue meets mine and his hands embrace and cling to me. He pulls me close, and while I’m still so bloody confused, I can’t stop myself from taking it.

Anders murmurs words I can’t understand against my lips, but when he pulls back a tiny bit, no longer assaulting my mouth but still kissing me, I hear, “Why do you have to be so ... you?”

He kisses my cheek, the side of my jaw, and my neck, while his impressive cock digs into my side. His lower half rubs against me, and my own cock wants friction, but my head gets stuck on his words.

“What do you mean, why do I have to be me? What’s wrong with being me?”

“I’ve tried everything to make you unsexy in my head. Only, it’s not working. I still go to bed with you on my mind and my hand on my dick.”

His breath is hot on my skin. “I’ve been trying to be good. Trying not to touch you. Trying to forget how good it felt to have your cock in my mouth. I’ve been trying to avoid this. I don’t want to freak out again. But you feel so damn, amazing, Brody.”

He’s moving into rambling territory as he ruts against me, and I throw my head back when our cocks line up through our boxers.

If we keep going like this, we’re no doubt going to fall over.

“Couch,” I croak.

His head snaps back, and he looks me in the eyes. “Couch?”

“Pin me again. Make it so I can’t move from beneath you and take what you need.”

“Brody,” he whines but pushes me towards the couch.

I fall onto my back, but I get a chance to whip my shirt over my head before Anders’ hard body lands on top of me.

I lift my hands above my head, joining them at the wrists.

“Hold me in place,” I encourage. If this is what he needs to get off, I’m more than willing to give it to him.

As much as I’m dying to touch him and hope one day I’ll be able to, this, what we have right here, is more than enough for me.

Parental Guidance - Avety Flynn

PG - BT banner.jpg

"A fantastically fun, HOT love story." - Kendall Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

Parental Guidance, an all-new, sexy and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Avery Flynn, is available now!

ParentalGuidance_1600
All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.
Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.
What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.
Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

Excerpt:

“So why are you on Bramble?” She took another small bite from her roll before answering. “My best friend is blackmailing me, and my dad wants a SAG card.” That was definitely not the answer he’d been expecting. “And I thought my reasoning was twisted.” “I’m sure it all makes sense in Gemma’s head,” Zara said. “She thinks I work too much and need to loosen up. She’ll let me be her plus-one to go meet a collector if I do the Bramble five dates thing. And my dad? Well, let’s just say he’s never met an unlikely plan he didn’t think he could pull off.” All the possibilities this created sped around inside his head until one broke free like a perfect fast break late in the third period when the game was on the line. All he had to do was put the biscuit in the net. “So neither of us really wants to be here,” he said. “We’re each other’s solution to getting back to our regular lives as soon as possible.” It was fucking perfect. Petrov’s job with the team would be safe for another season—well, as safe as he could be, considering he didn’t have a no-trade deal in his contract. Zara, though, didn’t seem to be seeing the genius of it, going by the suspicious look she gave him as she took another bite of her roll. Instead of giving him a straight-up no, though, she started eating. The words—okay, begging pleas—were bubbling up inside him but for once, he kept it in lockdown. He wasn’t about to rush this play, no matter how it had every nerve in his body jinglejangling. Finally, she used her napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth, straightened her spine, and looked him dead in the eye. “We’d have to have ground rules.” “Sure. Whatever you want.” Ice Knights season tickets? He’d make that happen. A photo op with her dad’s favorite player? Done. Whatever it took, he’d do it. “This isn’t a real or fake relationship, it’s a temporary alliance,” she said without an ounce of humor in her tone. “I’m not pretending to be your girlfriend or the random chick you’re banging this week.” “Agreed.” All of that sounded like it would cause more problems than it would solve anyway. “I’ve got a condition. Dressing up is not required. I’m not putting on a suit.” The best thing about the off-season was not having to strangle himself with a tie multiple times a week just for a bus ride to the rink or a plane trip to another city. Coach Peppers was old-fashioned about doing things the original way. “Fine.” Zara held up three fingers. “The third stipulation is that I’m not putting on a good attitude. If it’s been a crappy day, I don’t have to pretend to be a manic pixie dream girl.” He snorted. “No one who’s met you would believe that. You’re a little salty.” That was putting it mildly based on her attitude when she showed up for their date. “I have my reasons.” She added another finger, so she was holding up four. “Oh, and no making love. Sex?” She paused and looked him over quickly. “Maybe. Emotional, heartfelt, staring-each-other-in-the-eyes making love? Not gonna happen. No offense, but you’re not my type.”  What the hell? Not her type? He was a professional athlete making millions. He’d been led to believe he was everyone’s type. “Not a problem, since I don’t think we could see eye to eye while having sex unless you magically grew a foot,” he said. “You’re not into being creative?” Zara rolled her eyes. “I guess that’s expected for someone who has probably had women throwing themselves at him for years. You haven’t ever had to work for it.” Caleb had no idea what to say to that. He’d been punched square in the face by the most feared goons in hockey and it hadn’t knocked him as senseless as this little five-foot-nothing of a snarky woman had done with a few choice words. “I have one more rule,” she said, reaching for another roll. “Five dates and we’re done. Period. Do we have a deal?”

My Review

I love hockey. I just find the sport so sexy so it goes without saying I love an ice hockey romance. That's not why I gave this book 5 stars though. It was such a great read and I couldn't put it down and was very sad when it finished. There were some very funny moments, some steamy moments and some very real and touching moments that grabbed me by the heartstrings.

I didn't mind Zara as a leading lady. She was mostly strong but she had her vulnerabilities that held her back a bit. Caleb was the character I really loved though. He certainly wasn't the stereotypical ice hockey player. He had some personal issues that caused him a few challenges but that made him so much more than just a jock. I felt like he was so well written I just wanted to dive into the book and give him a big hug.

There wasn't much not to like in this book. If I was being super, super picky I felt like original issue involving Caleb might have been a bit light on. I'm also not loving the cover but I'm picturing a picture of naked chest Caleb with a hockey stick haha.

This was just the read I needed so I'm glad I took the chance on Parental Guidance.

She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs. AveryFlynn.jpg
