Keeps knocking down my defenses and stealing my excuses
one by one.
He never gives up, and now...I'm not sure I want him to.

Confessions of a Frat Girl - Abigail Davies

Release Date: March 28, 2019
Cover Design: Pink Elephant Designs

Synopsis

Confession One: Musical theatre and chess were my true loves. I was a mixture of nerd and drama queen. I liked to think of myself as raspberry ripple ice cream. The perfect combination of sauce to creamy goodness.
Confession Two: I was an adaptable kind of girl. Until it came to my dreams. Four years of hard work and I finally got into the college I’d fantasized about since I was a little girl. But sometimes things didn’t work out how you wanted them to. One incident—and a Viking helmet—was all it took to have my aspirations snatched away at the end of my first year. And now I was here. In a state I hated. A second college I didn’t want to go to. But no other choices available. Confession Three: Alcohol was the enemy. All I wanted was to blow off some steam before I met my new fate. To let loose, and have a little fun. I was never meant to wake up in a hot guys bed and not remember how I got there. Confession Four: He was my new roommate. Running out of his house the morning after the night before was the last time I was meant to see him. I could forget it ever happened and start my sophomore year unscathed. Until I found out he was my new roommate...along with another thirty guys. I was the new Frat Girl in town, and life was about to get a whole lot of messy.

About the Author

Abigail Davies grew up with a passion for words, storytelling, maths, and anything pink. Dreaming up characters--quite literally--and talking to them out loud is a daily occurrence for her. She finds it fascinating how a whole world can be built with words alone, and how everyone reads and interprets a story differently. Now following her dreams of writing, Abigail has found the passion that she always knew was there. When she's not writing: she's a mother to two daughters who she encourages to use their imagination as she believes that it's a magical thing, or getting lost in a good book. If she's doing neither of those things, you can be sure she's surfing the web buying new makeup, clothes, or binge watching another show as she becomes one with her sofa.

My Review

This was another great book in the series. It was almost 5 stars for me but there were a couple of things that just held it back.

This story is about Summer and at the start of the book you know something happened for Summer to be in the situation she finds herself in, that is starting in a new school but it takes a while for the whole story to come out and when it does I was a tiny but underwhelmed which is one reason this isn't 5 stars.
That being said this book has lots of laughs but surprisingly it also has a lot of deeper moments that makes this well worth the read.
This book also has Gabe and he is so swooning worthy. This guy is super sweet with a few vulnerabilities that made him that much hotter in my eyes. He's not perfect but he is perfect for Summer.
Summer is they type of girl who I can relate to. She would rather be comfy than cool and I can fully respect that.
This story is set in college and it has been a lot of years since I was in college but I still found this a very fun and enjoyable read.
I am loving the Confession series and look forward to future works.

Excerpt:

Shelby shut the door with a click and peered over at me. “What are you writing? If it’s permission to use the feather duster as a sex toy, the answer is no. Unless you buy your own, but if you haven’t figured out where the laundry room is yet, I doubt you’ll find where to buy one.” She was as funny as a car crash, this one. “Hilarious,” I drawled. “No, I’m making amendments as I go. I added a new rule.” “You added a new rule?” She raised one dark eyebrow and walked over, hovering over me. “All right, what is it?” “Decent clothes must be worn. Do you know how many times I wake up early on a morning to open the gym and find you basically in your underwear in the kitchen?” “Basically in my underwear? Who are you seeing in the kitchen? I wear shorts and a tank top at the very least.” “Yes, but the shorts barely cover your ass, and you’re sure as hell not wearing a bra.” She paused, eyes glittering as she said, “And why are you looking at my ass and my boobs?” That was an excellent question. “Because there’s nowhere else to look!” I rushed out before my stupid cock could get any ideas. “Look, waking up in the morning can be challenging for a guy.” She stared at me. “I don’t need to get up for a coffee with… you know.” I motioned to my groin. “And see you half-clothed.” She flicked her hair over her shoulder and walked to the kitchen, turning her back to me. “Why does it matter? I’m your best friend. I hardly think your little friend is remotely interested in whether or not I’m wearing a bra.” Yeah, well, he is. “Fine. If I have to wake up and see your perky nipples prancing around the kitchen, I’m going to stroll around in my underwear so you can get a good view of my morning glory.” She spun, lifting up a finger. Her cheeks were flushed, and she had to swallow before she could speak. “My nipples do not prance. They are not horses.” I grinned. “Also, I have no desire to have anything to do with your morning erection, much less get a good view of it, thank you very much.” “Have I told you that you’re cute when you blush?” “Have I told you that you’d be a cute dead guy?” I laughed, leaning back on the sofa. “C’mon, Shelbs. We need to respect each other’s privacy. You don’t want to see my cock hard over your breakfast, and I don’t want to see your nipples standing to attention when I make a coffee.” She sighed. “Why did I ever let you move in again?” “Because I was going to be homeless and you’re the best friend ever?” “Mm.”

My Review

I am a big Emma Hart fan but I have to say this book fell a tiny bit short for me. I say it was 3.5 stars with the potential to be 5 stars and in some people's eyes it will be 5 stars and that's fine but for me it didn't quite get there or maybe I'm unfairly judging it against her previous books.

What I loved: I loved the friends to lovers theme, I loved both characters but maybe just not for each other and of course the ending. To be honest I think I really loved the last 5-6 chapters and wished the whole book was like that.

I would say you should give it a go and make up your own mind on this one and I can't wait to see what Emma releases next.

My Review
This book is my first from this author and therefore my first in the series. I felt like it was fine to start here but I am intrigued to go back to read the story of Kyle's best friend when I have time.

This book was almost a 5* read for me but there were just a few moments that kept it from getting there but still it was a great read that had an excellent combination of humor, angst, alphaness romance and deeply moving scenes that honestly had me in tears.

I have to advise that it takes a few chapters to get the whole back story between Kyle and Chloe but stick with it things become clearer.

This story wasn't just a shallow romance. There are certainly layers that were difficult to read not because they were written badly but because of the subject matter and because of how well they were written I felt like I was right there.

I am glad I took a chance on this book and look forward to more from this author.

Twist Tied - Heather Guimond

Title: Twist Tied
Series: Love Between the Pages
Author: Heather Guimond
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 11, 2019 Cover Design: KAM Designs
If you’ve ever been left twisted in knots by your last book boyfriend...
Clarisse:
Author Wyatt Chase is one kinky mo-fo, and I know kinky.
I’ve spent years devouring steamy stories that have left me fit to be tied, and as the assistant to his top rival, I’ve rubbed elbows with some of the dirtiest minds around.
To make my life imitate his art, I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.
Wyatt:
My readers think they know me from my stories, but I just have an imagination more fertile than a box of Miracle-Gro. When Clarisse Flores blindsides me with an unexpected proposition, I hesitate. She wants the Marquis de Sade, not some kinky fraud. Nevermind the fact she’s hell on wheels. Taming her should be a job for a professional, but one look into her hazel eyes and I’m willing to try.
What happens when a bossy, smart-mouthed, independent woman is determined to submit to a man who can barely tie his own necktie?
Something is bound to unravel...

Heather Guimond is a Los Angeles native, a fact she's abnormally proud of. When she's not trying to write something that will make people laugh or rip their hearts out (or both!) she's either reading or doing her best to crack the whip on her three home-schooled teenagers. She loves all things witty and wise-cracking, as well most varieties of smart-assery. Other favorites include French roast coffee in copious amounts and the dirtiest Dirty Martinis she can find. More than anything, she hopes she writes books that stick with the reader long after the pages have been read.
