KISSMENOT-
FULL-ebook.jpg
Let me make this clear right here, right now: I, Halley Dawson, do not care that Preston Wright is kissing other women.
Not a lick. Not at all. Nuh-uh- freakin’-uh.
I do care that he’s doing it six feet away from me behind a gaudy velvet curtain—making him my competition in this year’s kissing contest.
Why do I care, you ask? Because I’ve had an unfortunate crush on the insufferable idiot since I was sixteen years old, but I also know it’s never going to happen.
He’s the Creek Falls bachelor to die for, and I’m the Creek Falls racoon lady who puts peanut butter sandwiches out for them every night.
I’m not going to let him break my four-year-long reign—no matter how many times he breaks the rules and slides the curtain across to do the one thing he’s not allowed to:
Kiss me.

A Debt Owed - Clarissa Wild - plus review

Title: A Debt Owed
Author: Clarissa Wild
Genre: Dark Romance
Release Date: May 27, 2019
My enemy’s daughter … offered to me as payment towards a debt.
Now she’ll become my wife … my pet.
I wasn’t always cold-hearted and vindictive.
She made me that way.
Charlotte Davis … the most beautiful and privileged princess there is.
I’d kill for her to be mine.
We met by chance at her father’s wedding … And then again years later.
But she forgot about me. Ignored me. Enraged me.
Then her father did the unforgivable, and I made it my lifelong goal to ruin him ...
By taking her as payment towards a debt he owed.
A debt she will repay by marrying me.
Until death do us part.
I push the button to close off the front of the car to the back of the car so we can have some privacy. “What’s wrong?” I ask. “Nothing,” she mutters, averting her eyes. I frown. “You’re looking at me …” “I can’t look at you now?” she scoffs. “You can.” I grab her chin and turn her head. “But not like that. Like you’re hiding something or think I’m the worst man in the entire world.” “You are,” she says, smirking at her own savviness. I lick my lips at her comment. “Worse than your father, who sold you to the first bidder?” Her nostrils flare, and she looks away, blinking heavily. I know I touched on a sore point there, but it’s the truth, and she knows it. Her father couldn’t care less about her, explaining why she’s become such a stuck-up princess. Always trying to grab his attention and then right her wrongs when he wasn’t pleased. Her whole life revolved around making her family happy. Well, not anymore. She’s mine now, and she needs to remember that. “I’ll be good to you if you let me,” I murmur into her ear, and I press a kiss just below it. “If you’d just let me kiss you … fuck you … without fighting.” “No way,” she hisses, but she still bites her lip as I place another kiss on her neck. “You only say that because you think you should. Because you’ve been taught to act like a lady and defend against any immoral behavior. But you don’t have to with me. I want you to be immoral.” My hand slides up her knee between her legs to right where her soft spot lies. And she clenches her legs in response, her breath faltering. “Be sinful with me. It could be so fucking good.”

My Review
3.5 -4*

Phew what a book. This is certainly not your run of the mill fairytale and if you like them sweet and happy skip this book. It makes it difficult for me to review as well because even though it is well written it's hard for me to say how good it is when so many bad things happen in it but here it goes.

Easton is definitely not a sweet leading man although there are hints of it that keep you hoping for more from him.
Charlotte our leading lady has her own share of issues mainly to do with her family that lead her to be in the position she is with Easton. Charlotte is troubled with her attraction to Easton when she feels she should hate him. To be honest even though he did some pretty horrible things I still had a soft spot for him because of the glimpses of kindness from young and old Easton. I really wanted to see Charlotte warm to Easton even if he is kind of a bad guy but I am going to hold my final judgement of him until the next book because I'm an optimist and I'm hoping he will redeem himself.

This book was certainly a page turner and even though there were times when Easton seemed to love Charlotte and then other times he wanted to hurt her for her and her father's past or just because he felt like it I still couldn't put it down.

Also just to confirm this is a cliffhanger. I didn't know that until I got to the last page and boy was I shocked not to be getting a HEA after all I had read but I am intrigued to see where this goes.

Faking Mr Right - Claire Kingsley - plus review

Title: Faking Ms. Right
Author: Claire Kingsley
Genre: Contemporary Rom/Com
Release Date: May 28, 2019

“When I kissed you last night, I wasn’t pretending.”
Everly Dalton is a walking, talking, martini-drinking dating disaster. Forget kissing frogs. She can’t even get past the first date. But at work, she’s a badass—the longest-running assistant billionaire Shepherd Calloway has ever had. Her coworkers wonder how she handles the big bad wolf—and never gets bit.
Shepherd Calloway isn’t interested in being anyone’s sugar daddy. Tired of women who only want him for his money, he swears off dating, determined to focus on running his empire. Until his gold-digging ex hits him where it hurts, putting him in a difficult position.
His solution—to have Everly pose as his live-in girlfriend—is obviously crazy. But the timing is uncanny. It just so happens Everly needs a favor from her boss—a big and awkward one—and this could ensure everyone gets what they want.
Besides, Everly can totally survive a few months of faux romance.
Except there’s a problem. Shepherd is supposed to be a single-minded, unemotional robot boss. Not an actual human with a heart and morning wood. Between the awkward bed-sharing and tingly fake dates, lines are blurring. And as Everly gets to know the real Shepherd, she discovers there’s more to the man behind the bank account.
And faking it gets all too real.

My Review

This is my first book from this author and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Was it perfect? No of course not but after flipping through a few of the other reviews I feel like they were a bit harsh. This is a work of fiction or I also least I hope it is with Everly's bad luck in dating so I would suggest going into this book with that in mind. In saying that there is a lot in this book that you can connect with.

This story had me laughing and cringing. Everly's horrific dating stories, her crazy supportive best friends and their exercise routine. These girls are hilarious and I was very happy to have met them in this book.

Shep was like an onion, he had layers that he tried to hide from the world. He comes across as cold hearted but you have to hang in there with him because you soon see there is a lot more to him then you first expect. I actually really liked Shep's brother he was really sweet.

The overall story was interesting and humorous and I'd say well worth taking a chance.
