Defying Gravity - Isabella Cassazza- plus 5* review

Title: Defying Gravity
Series: An Ice Tigers Hockey Novel
Author: Isabella Cassazza
Genre: Sports Romance/Love Triangle
Release Date: February 25, 2019 Cover Design: Marianne Nowicki
Two men, a woman—an unexpected love story. Tyler Wolfe has it all, or does he? He’s living his dream, playing pro hockey for the Boston Ice Tigers, and at thirty he’s become one of the NHL’s top scorers. Everything would be perfect if he didn’t have to hide the most important thing in his life.
Danny Fisher has had enough. Almost two years of hiding his relationship with Tyler have taken a toll on him, and when his very own hockey hottie is supposed to take part in his team’s social media dating show romancing women, Danny considers leaving Tyler.
Lily Parker is struggling with her career. Training young horses isn’t an easy job—one where she has recently been lying in the dirt more than being on the horse. An evening meant to leave her problems behind her leads to a chance encounter with Danny and Tyler, complicating her life even more.
Can Lily help Danny and Tyler overcome their problems, or will her presence cause even more trouble in their relationship?
Isabella Cassazza lives in Austria. She has been an avid reader from an early age, and when she’s not writing, she usually has a book in her hands.  need more than 5* for this book. It is my first from this author and I was a bit nervous about reading it because if this genre isn't done well it can be a bit of a train wreck but that was not the case here. I am so sucked into the Ice Tigers world now I can't wait for more.
In this story we met Tyler who is the hot jock but he is so much more than that. He is a softy and I was crushing on him so hard. The situation he was in was awful and I hope that the sporting world is more open minded but most likely not.
We also met Danny who was a sweet guy who had sacrificed so much in the name of love. My heart broke for him thinking about how painful it must have been.
Finally there was Lily. She is such a beautiful soul but she also had a sense of strength about her. If I wasn't so jealous of her situation I would have really loved her (haha)
This was such great start to the series and I am looking forward to more.

Blindsided -Eden Finley

Release Date: March 20, 2019
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

Synopsis

𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫:
When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep. Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can’t have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers. That’s not my biggest concern though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight. I need to stay away from him. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧: Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we’d win a Super Bowl together. When I’m offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don’t hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that’s a decade old. Only, now that I’m here, he’s avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I’d cut my losses. But this is Shane Miller—the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I’d do anything for. The guy who’s more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate. I’m not going to let him get away.

Excerpt

“God, I wish I was there,” Miller says. His solemn face fills my phone screen, and I wish he was here too.
“Here?” I croak. “Why?”
Scenarios run through my head of what Miller could do if he were here right now, and not one of them is PG-rated.
“Why do you think? I’m going batshit and my leg is messed up. I wanna be back on the field.”
Ah, he’s still talking about football. Duh.
“I’ll get you there,” I promise.
“You’re really going to spend your off season training me? Shouldn’t you be taking a jersey chaser or two to a sex island?”
I perk up. “There are sex islands? Think we could recondition there?”
“On second thought, I don’t think you should be let loose on a sex island. You’d probably forget to do important things like eat and drink water, and then you’d die of dehydration.”
“Like those animals who literally fuck themselves to death?”
“What?” I ask.
“There are these rat-looking things from Australia. The males literally stop eating so they can have sex until they die. Something about their need to keep their gene pool going.”
“I shouldn’t be shocked about your weird knowledge of animal sex, but I am.”
“Just trying to find my spirit animal.” I sigh. “Although lately I’m more like a panda. If I go much longer without sex, I’ll forget how to do it.”
Why my brain thinks that’s a good idea to tell Miller, I have no idea. Maybe I’m fishing for him to agree with me or maybe I want him to know that I’m not fucking around with anyone else. Not that I’m fucking around with him either.
“Aww, how long has it been? A few days? A week?” He smiles but there’s something in it that makes me think he’s gritting his teeth while he does.
“Try months. That night … with you and those two girls. That’s the last time I …” I wave my hand in a you know what I’m trying to say gesture.
“Holy shit, how are you surviving? And what about your pregame ritual?”
“The new calluses on my hands aren’t from throwing footballs.”
Miller cracks up laughing, and something inside me breaks. What it is, I don’t know, but it’s like charging the field at the beginning of a game. It’s a touchdown in the last minute. It’s putting that championship ring on for the first time. It’s … everything.
“Shane,” I say, my voice coarse.
His eyes flick to mine through the small screen, and his laughter dies.
My confession is a whisper. “I chickened out.”
Miller’s brow furrows. “Chickened out of what?”
“This. FaceTiming you.”
Miller looks like he’s trying to decide to mock me or let me off the hook. I beat him to talking so he can do neither.
“I’ve wanted to. You have no idea how much.”
His expression softens. “I think I have a fair idea. I wasn’t calling you on your bluff or taunting you.” He lowers his voice and whispers, “I wanted it. I want this.”
Miller’s gaze burns so hot I expect my phone to overheat. How I’ve never seen him this way before now is confusing, but not really when I dissect it.
I uprooted my whole life for him. Moved to Chicago to be near him. All because I missed what I had with him, which up until recently, I thought was just a solid friendship.
Friends don’t give up what I did just so they can see their college buddy again. That’s illogical. That doesn’t stop me from trying to make sense of it. And to make sense of it, I need to do something I’ve been putting off. For fear of rejection, fear of discovering some unknown truth that’s always been a part of me, I don’t know. But I do know Miller doesn’t scare me. Doing this with Miller doesn’t scare me.
“Take your shirt off,” I rasp.
“Talon—”
“Take. Your. Shirt. Off.”

Lessons From A one-Night Stand - Piper Rayne - release plus review

If you find yourself having banged your new boss—the principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience... Lesson One: Always get her FULL name. Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living. Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial. Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing. Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office. Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again. Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.
Class dismissed.

My Review

This is one of those books where I need more than 5 stars to review it. I just fell in love with Austin and Holly and their stories. I have read everything from Piper Rayne except their last series as I was travelling during it's release but in my opinion this is some of their best work. It just had another level to it emotionally that really drew me in and kept me reading until well into the night. The Bailey family has the kind of back story that you never want to hear but the way they worked as a family to make sure everyone was ok was just so beautiful but it also left me intrigued to know about each family member and I can't wait to see how they get their own HEA.

What can I say about Austin but he is so dreamy. He is smart and athletic and he if a family man and I was swooning all over him. I always like my leading men to have some vulnerability to them and Austin sure had that. Holly on the other hand seemed like she has her whole life under control and nothing was going to break through but Austin had other plans and to be honest I wouldn't have been able to hold out against Austin's charms either. The authors took these characters on an emotional journey that had me holding my breath at times and I couldn't have been happier with the ending.

I recommend this book to everyone. I know I just can't wait for more Baileys.

“We need you to introduce Principal Radcliffe.” She peers behind me then pushes up on her tiptoes to whisper in my ear, “Malcolm, I mean Vice Principal Ealey, called in this morning. I think he was still…” Fay doesn’t have to finish the sentence. Malcolm Ealey went through a public divorce last year and has been spending a lot of his time at the Lucky Tavern, drowning in a helluva lot more than his sorrows. That’s why, even though he should have become our temporary principal, the school board decided to hire someone new. “Why me?” She hands me a piece of paper. “The kids look up to you, and everyone thinks that the kids will welcome Principal Radcliffe if you introduce her.” Her. Another woman. Hopefully this one is well-caffeinated and not pregnant. We’ll all stand a better chance that way. I accept the piece of paper, looking over what I need to say. “Fine.” I’m not scared of public speaking. I’ve got two teenage girls at home. You don’t know a hostile environment until you’re trying to break up a fight between those two. “You’re the best, Austin.” Fay squeezes my forearm then walks down the hall. My footsteps slow as I read over the new principal’s bio. What the hell is a Yale graduate doing in Alaska at Lake Starlight High School? After skimming over her education, I fold up the paper. I can wing it from there. Besides the kids couldn’t care less about what’s printed on that sheet. Heading into the auditorium, I search out the face of our new principal, but I know everyone here. “Her meeting with the superintendent is running a tad late, so if you could stall, I’ll tap you on the shoulder when it’s safe to announce her,” Fay informs me. “I’m not a zoo keeper.” Fay laughs. I will not miss this part of my job next year. Before I realize it, I’m in front of the podium, clearing my throat and introducing myself, as if everyone here doesn’t already know who I am. Sedona rolls her eyes and looks away. I have no fucking clue why she’s so embarrassed of me. I mean, look at me. Six foot two, two-ten, short, neat haircut. I work out four times a week, hike, bike, ski. My muscles aren’t from just the gym… Okay, before I keep sounding like a male-seeking-female want ad, let’s get on with how my day went into the shitter in a matter of twenty minutes. I tell a few jokes, and the kids loosen up a bit. Maybe I should rethink the whole college baseball coach thing and go for stand-up comedy. I’m pretty good at this. Fay taps my shoulder, and thank God, because I’m running out of material. I pull the paper out of my back pocket and clear my throat one more time. “All right, everyone. We all know that Principal Miller has left us to enjoy her new baby, so we’re welcoming a new principal into our school. Our new principal for the remainder of the year is Dr. Radcliffe. She graduated from Yale with her doctorate in education. She comes here from the lower forty-eight, so make sure you give a big Alaskan welcome!” About half the kids in the auditorium clap while the rest of them stare at the stage with an expression that only a bunch of unimpressed and uninterested teenagers can manage. Time to grab their interest and get them to buy in. “Principal Radcliffe’s hobbies include streaking during football games, ferret racing, and taking surveys for money.” The kids roar with laughter, finally looking as if they’re interested and want to be here. Fay steps up and nudges me. “Sorry,” I mumble. “We’ll bring Dr. Radcliffe out to explain her hobbies in more depth.” I turn from the podium at the sound of heels clicking across the stage. This is the part where my mouth drops open and my testicles jerk up, seeking protection. See the auburn-haired woman walking right toward me? The one who looks as pissed off as Sedona did when I honked my horn in the parking lot this morning? Yeah, that’s my new boss. The new principal of Lake Starlight High School. I don’t believe in kissing and telling, but I’ll tell you—this is the first and only principal I’ve ever given an orgasm to in the backseat of my Jeep.         Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two.
