Manic Monday - Piper Rayne Release plus my review

ManicMonday-SBPRBANNER-RB

PRManicMondayBookCover5x8_MEDIUMManic Monday, an all-new hilarious and romantic standalone from Piper Rayne, is LIVE!

The perfect man for me is a blood-sucking lawyer. #pfftwhatever
Been there.
Done that.
Burned the T-shirt.
I didn’t swear off all men after my divorce, but I sure as hell swore off anyone remotely like my ex. On the top of that list? Attorneys. Everyone knows they can’t be trusted.
Now that I’m back in Chicago, my focus is my daughter, my mom and me. I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, it’s just on hold—indefinitely.
Then I see Reed Warner again, and he weasels his way into every part of my life, not willing to take no for an answer.
In spite of my better judgment I can’t stop thinking about the way his designer suits fit his muscular frame, or the way his blue eyes seem to eat me up with every glance.
You know when you’re on a diet and even hummus seems irresistible? Reed is like the equivalent of chocolate éclair and my willpower is fading fast.
The problem? Not only is he a lawyer…
He was the best man at my wedding.

My Review

I absolutely loved this book. I enjoy reading about alpha bad boys as much as the next romance reader but boy it's nice to read a book where the hero is just a really nice, sweet guy. The type of person you would actually like to meet and fall not just in the fictitious world and Reed sure wears the good guy cap well.
Victoria we met in Piper Rayne's previous serious. She was the assistant to Jagger. Very sassy and strong. In Manic Monday we get to see a more vulnerable/damaged side to her. I felt there was a lot of truth to her character and how she behaved. Although I just wanted her to fall into Reeds arms I felt how she was in this story is more like people who have gone through what she has.
Overall I could not find fault in this story and am seriously jealous that Victoria found Reed before I could haha. I will say you can't put this book down so don't start it late at night like I did or you will have to survive the day with little to no sleep but it was worth it.
I am hoping to fall head over heels for the next two hero's as well but they will have their hands full with Chelsea and Hannah.

Moving two thousand miles away wasn't my plan, but when family needs you, you come.

Before I can head back to my hometown of Chicago though, I have two men to say good-bye to in Los Angeles. Neither one of them will be happy to hear the news. One is losing his assistant and the other his seven-year-old daughter. Neither will be an easy sell on my part, but I have no choice, and I'm not exactly thrilled with starting over with a Clean Slate.

This is a PREQUEL to our Charity Case Series.

Synopsis

Rules.
They’re a necessity. They make the world go ‘round and help idiots function in society. Most don’t require much thought and are easy to follow—or so I thought… I didn’t realize, however, that the new group of people I became friends with could have so many. No sleeping with group member’s moms? Easy enough. No shirts at the BBQ? I’m all over that. Do you know how hot it gets in Texas during summertime? No sleeping with others in the group? Now this one… This one is killing me. If you saw Joseph Snow, with those killer abs and cocky smirk, you’d be thinking the exact same thing… rules are meant to be broken.

Excerpt

“What are you doing?” Joey hisses when I grab him.
“What I should’ve done two weeks ago.”
With a gentle grip on his upper arms, I urge him backward until we clear the threshold and I can close us into his bedroom. I don’t let him go until his ass hits his desk chair, but even then I only move my hands until they’re on the armrests. He’s trapped, bracketed by my arms.
“Tony,” he whispers.
He’s not afraid even if there’s a tremble in his voice. If I had to bet, I’d lay money that he’s aroused.
“My name is Anthony,” I correct, the heat of my breath blowing the long strands of hair surrounding his beautiful face.
“Anthony,” he repeats.
My cock loves the sound of my name on his lips as much as my brain does.
“What are you doing?” he asks again.
Honestly? I didn’t think past the very moment we’re in right now.
“I wanted to say hi.” I lean in closer.
I missed you. It was hell not coming by even though I’ve been invited three times in the last two weeks. I’m tired of fighting against whatever this pull is you have on me.
“So,” I say leaning in even closer. “Hi.”
A tiny grin plays on his lips. “Why are you so obsessed with me?”
I want to laugh. I know he’s trying to get back to the taunting guy he is in front of his friends, but there’s no place for that man in this room right now.
“I am,” I say softly. “Obsessed with you that is. I’m obsessed with those purple boxers and the stretch of them over your cock the other week.”
My eyes cut down, and I hate that his skin and muscular thighs are covered by a pair of denim shorts.
“Oh yeah?” he breathes. “And if I tell you I’m wearing them now?”
Shaking my head, I try to focus on anything but those purple fucking boxers. His brother and two of his closest friends are right outside in the driveway. Hell, they’re probably already wondering where I am.
“I’m obsessed with that freckle behind your ear.”
His hand reaches up to the exact spot that has me mesmerized every time he walks away from me.
“I’m obsessed with the way your eyes track me no matter where I am in the room.” I lean in closer. “I can feel them on my skin, on my mouth.”
“I thought I was doing a good job of hiding it,” he whines. “I’ll do better.”
“I want your eyes on me,” I assure him.
“I’m obsessed with your ass in gray sweats.”
“Good to know.” I lean in another inch, our breaths becoming one.
I skip telling him I figured as much, and that’s the only reason I didn’t get here sooner. I forgot the bag I packed this morning at home, the anticipation of seeing him tonight was all I could focus on, and I had to run back home after work to change into them.
“I can’t stop thinking about your lips on mine.”
I groan at his words.
“You’ll have to remind me.”
He nods softly but doesn’t make a move to come closer.
“You smell amazing.” His eyes flutter closed, and with the disappearance of his bright blues, my restraint falls away as well.
Hand in his hair just like two weeks ago, I hold it in my grip and tilt his head to the perfect angle. Catching his gasp with my own mouth, I slide my tongue inside of his warmth. He’s sweet, arousal mixed with the wine he was drinking when I showed up to find him looking more gorgeous than I’ve ever seen. His groan and the bristle of his scruff on my face are nearly my undoing.
His mouth, the soft whimper he emits, and the sting of his blunt fingernails on the back of my neck literally bring me to my knees. As I sink to the carpet, his legs get involved, wrapping around my back and urging me forward. The heat of his cock is exactly where I need it, albeit separated by too many damn layers of clothes.
The hand in his hair grips him tighter as my free hand roams the length of his torso. The rippling muscles and the smooth skin of his shaved chest are driving me wild.
Why in the hell are we wearing clothes?
“Joseph,” I moan as he pulls his mouth away offering me his neck.
I fought coming here tonight. I fought the memories of this sweet little mouth for nearly two weeks. I failed on both counts, so I don’t bother fighting his offering right now.
Nipping his ear, I clench his hair tighter. In return, his legs flex harder, and his nails dig deeper.
“You make me crazy,” I confess against the column of his neck.
“And hard.” I groan at his words, but when the shift of his hips forces his cock against mine, I almost embarrass myself.
“You have to stop,” I hiss against his neck, tongue tracing the throbbing pulse point just under his chin.
“You first,” he challenges with a sigh when my hand sweeps over his hardened nipple.
Laughter outside of his window is worse than cold water being tossed all over us. We pull away from each other with a snap.

Maxen- Kinky shine #2 Stephani plus my review

Title: Maxen
Series: Kinky Shine #2
Author: Stephanie Witter
Genre: Steamy Contemporary Rock Star Romance
Release Date: April 10, 2018

Blurb

They were married but never kissed.
That night years ago never had consequences…until now.

“I wasn’t into the love bullshit and I didn’t really believe in forever between two people.’’

If I had my way, I would have never seen Maxen Walton again, the womanizing drummer of Kinky Shine.

When I met him in college he was already going through girls as if they were disposable. I had always hated him. Yet, for some drunken reason I ended up marrying him in Las Vegas. That night, right before I puked in the fake flowers and left the tacky chapel was the last time I had laid eyes on him.

Until my boyfriend asked me to marry him.

Now, I was in LA trying to get a divorce from my husband without the press hearing about it.

What I didn’t expect was that my famous husband affected me and that getting to know him would change a lot more than I ever planned.

“All I saw now was Lark, always and forever out of my reach, always driving me crazy.’’

I had only ever met one woman who equally drove me crazy and made me want her until I forgot my name.

Lark Hardin.

And I married her one crazy night in Las Vegas.

Freshly out of rehab and trying like hell to get back in the game while convincing my best friend I wouldn’t relapse, seeing my wife again was the last thing I needed for that.
Life liked f*cking with me, though.

Here she was, so sexy I would damn myself to be inside her just once, but she wasn’t here for me. She was here to get a divorce so her perfect boyfriend had free range to marry her.

She still hated my guts on the sole principle that I was a womanizing f*cker, but maybe she would open her eyes and see beyond that part of me.

I just hoped it wouldn’t be just for the sex because this woman had always been my weakness.

She had the power to destroy me.

“I’d spent the better part of my life hiding behind my bright smile and loud laugh, pushing everything away by using sex, but that was over.’’

**For readers over 18. Can be read as a standalone but if you want the full Kinky Shine experience don't miss the first book.**

My Review

Thank you Stephanie Witter for finally bringing me Maxen's story. After Dex I just could not wait for more from Maxen but the book never came. I would check back thinking maybe somehow I missed it but nothing. I almost gave up hope finding out about this sexy, troubled drummer but then hope. A post saying Maxen was coming and I had to happy dance and hope he was worth the wait and boy was he worth it.
In Maxen we get to see why he makes some bad choices and his soft, vulnerable side which is heart breaking and sexy at the same time.
Maxen meets his match with Lark who is just the kind of girl he needs (eventually haha).
I just could not put this down. I fell in love with both of them and even when I couldn't keep my eyes open I still kept reading.

Zack
Finding my teammate in bed with my wife made the decision I had been fighting with for years easier.
It’s time to move on.
A fresh start and a new NHL team in a big city. Most importantly, it’s my son Jack’s best shot.
It would be both of our best shots.
Denise
After a bad childhood, I made sure I would succeed, so I lived for my job.
The problem is I die a little with each patient I lose. It’s part of my career at Hudson Children’s Oncology Hospital, but it doesn’t make the sting of loss any easier.
Seeking anything other than a life saved isn’t on my agenda until a NHL player walks into my hospital with his son.
We’re officially off script the moment we meet.
If this love is anything, it’s unscripted.
“Zack.” I hear her voice and just look at my wife. The woman who said she would love me in good times and in bad yet is currently holding a sheet to cover her naked body. The four-carat engagement with matching eternity wedding ring glistens in the light. “It’s just ...” she starts to say, and I look over at the man in bed next to her. In our bed.
“It’s over.” I say the two words I swore I wouldn’t say no matter how hard it got. No matter how much I saw her push me away, no matter that I always suspected she was cheating on me. Then I look over at the man who I called a brother, the man who stood by my side on and off the ice. “You’re scum.”
“It just happened,” Colton says, getting out of the bed. At least he’s wearing boxers. His knee is still wrapped from the operation he had last month, which is why he wasn’t on the road with us, which is how I surprised them.
We were on the road for the whole week and due back tomorrow, but I hightailed it out of there to get home to my family and my son. “It just so happened you walked into my house and slept with my wife?” I ask him, and I have to wonder why I’m not more pissed, why I’m not more angry with them. “You come here and sleep with my wife with my son under the same roof.”
“Zack,” my wife says, and I look over at her again. Tears are rolling down her cheeks, her perfectly made up face now streaked with the black mascara she always wears. “Please let’s ...”
I shake my head, putting my hands in my pockets. “Let’s what? Let’s talk about this?” I throw my head back and laugh. “Let’s talk about the fact that our son is in his room dying. Let’s talk about the fact that instead of helping him, you’re just helping yourself. Let’s talk about the fucking fact that instead of being there by his side with me, you chose to escape the fucking reality that our son won’t make it to six years old.”
“No.” She shakes her head, and I know that I’ve about had it.
“I’ll give you an hour,” I tell them both. “One hour and I want you packed and at the door when I come back.”
“But—” she says.
“But nothing, Chantal. You did what you had to do for you, and now I’m doing what I need to do for our son.”
I turn and walk out of our bedroom, then down the winding staircase that leads to the big brass front doors. Once outside in the warm Arizona air, I take my phone out of my pocket and call the only person I know who has my back no matter what. My agent and best friend, Jamie.
He answers after one ring, and it doesn’t surprise me he sleeps with his phone in his hand. “What’s up?” he says, his voice sleepy since it’s four a.m. in New York.
“I want out of Arizona, make the trade. Call the powers that be; I want out,” I tell him, getting into my Range Rover.
“You can’t just demand that,” he says, and I hear sheets rustle.
“Just walked in on Colton fucking my wife, so you can bet your ass I can. Make it happen. Call New York because it’s the only place I’ll go. I don’t care if I take a pay cut.”
“That fucking scumbag,” he says. “I’ll call them now.”
“Jamie, there is a top-notch doctor who specializes in cancer in New York. Max Horton’s sister,” I tell him quietly and slowly drive out of my gate.
“I’ll make it happen,” he says softly. “I’ll let you know what they say.”
“Jamie, I’m leaving here in a week regardless of what they say,” I tell him and disconnect the call.
“One week,” I say to myself. “One fucking week.”

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

My Review

If you have not started this series then you need to because every book gets better and better and it starts off pretty darn good.
This book grabbed me by the heart strings because it included sick children which as a Mum is always really always hard to read about.
This story is about Zack and Denise. Denise is sister to Max Horton and a Doctor who works with children with cancer and Zack is looking for a fresh start, some help and lots of luck.
Their journey had echo's of Max and Allison's story which wasn't repetitive but very humorous.
Something So Unscripted was as great as the others but it had an emotional element that was just above the others in this series.
I really wish the hockey team in the story was real. The sense of family runs so deep and they are all so good looking I would love to see them on the ice that would be so hot. I am invested in this series and the characters and I really really want more .

My Review

What a great concept for a story. Ivy helps people end their relationships on good terms while keeping herself away from them and Becket is all about relationships. He is the type of hot sportsman with feelings that we all wished we could meet.
I loved the way the two were introduced and EJ returning with Knox was a nice touch and very funny. You won't believe what EJ is capable of until you see her in action.
I love the twist to I really didn't she that coming and was a nice surprise.
My only issue was the start. It was a bit jumpy and it took a long time before the information there all clicks into place but it is worth the wait.
